12borejimbo
I have recently purchased a meopta 7x50 and have been opened up into the world of quality scopes! So I am going to spend some money when I get paid at the end of this month! I want to get a nice scope, but nothing ridiculous, it will be going on my hmr for a few months, and then my 243 when I get it, so what would you go for if you had the choice, I've got S&B 8x56 in mind, zeiss duralyt 3-12x50, or would you consider something else? Probably 600 ish but i could save more, but then that would delay my purchase, if anyone has anything the want to sell please message me! Thanks for your responses in advance! kent
S+Bender all the way great glass, but best of all they are as tough as they come and hold thier zero through unimaginable mis-treatement. They are a bit dear nowadays i bought all mine when the pound was strong- i suggest a second hand 8x56 or 6x42 hungarian you dont need the 30mm tube its all about adjustment range and not brightness. My 6x42 has a steel tube though i am not sure they still do that, i also have a 3-12x50 Klassik on my own .243 its a good choice for versitility but the reticule gets too thick for a hmr and small quarry as you increase the mag, no problem with fox and deer and great for low light and woodland brush

Beardo
i'd have a look round for a second hand Swarovski - you'll pick up a 4-12x50 around that money.
bullet boy
The S&B 8x56 is a quality scope and I can't recommend this enough! This scope would be perfect on your .243.A lot of Deerstalkers use this particular scope on their rifles! I love this scope so much it's on top of my Ruger 10/22!
bsamatt
Just dropped a schimdt 8x56 on my .223, not used it much yet but what i have done with it, i can't fault it at all, highly reccommend it.
njc110381
The Schmidt 8x56 would be brilliant for Deer and night Foxing. If you like to push the range a bit more in daylight then you may find that 8x isn't quite enough. As a stalking scope it can't be beaten. They're bomb proof!
