the lizard
Folks, I have just been offered the chance to buy a 2nd-hand dive bottle for £30. It is a 12 litre cylinder and I'm told it's rated as 3,000 p.s.i. This would be about 208 bar. My S410 requires to be filled to 200 bar (190 to be exact). Will this 12L bottle at 208 bar be sufficient for multiple re-fills of my S410 ? And about how many ? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks. the Lizard. SNAKEBITE
If you fill your S410 to 175bar instead of 190bar you will get more fills (only just but it makes a difference) and it is at the start of the sweet spot on the power curve so no low powe shots Can't comment on the amount of fills as I have never used a bottle. Slipster
Lizard if you go to Guns n Stuff web site (Lincoln Gun shop) they give examples of different sizes of bottles and how many fills, worth a read Slipster PS my first bottle was 208 bar 12ltr soon changed to 300bar
Davrian
It's a far cry from the £207 I just paid for a 300bar 12L but I would suggest your starting off on the wrong foot, I'd assume as its so cheap that its out of test? if so you will need to pay to have it tested! it will need a test every 2.5 years starting with a full examination and the second test being visual, the third test its back to square one! If it fails a test its scrap metal! Most people go for 232bar cylinders as they are more readily available than the 300bar on the second hand market and a 232 would fill your gun for longer. If you do a google you may find someone's done the maths for you and can tell you roughly how many fills? but I suspect at 208bar its not going to be many! I gave up looking for second hand bottle as I wanted a 300bar as recommended by Gunpower, I gave in as I was soooo long looking it was just easier in the end to buy the bottle new. Buying new also meant I could choose a 'surface' valve, the valve is different and so the test is only required every 5 years (no visual inspection in between!) I'm sure with your S410 232bar would be fine, there are plenty of second hand ones about trick is to get one that's just had the test. Try: http://www.uk-eshop.co.uk/guncellar/ This is where I bought mine new, I know he does second hand ones too and if you ring him and speak to him, he maybe able to fit a surface valve to a second hand bottle and sell it to you with a fresh test. Hope this helps?

Slipster
Taken from web site High Pressure Air Cylinders Having your own High Pressure Air Cylinder makes so much sense. Clean, dry, oil free breathing quality air is so much better for your PCP Air Weapon than the air from even the best Stirrup pumps. However, be cautious about the cylinder you choose. Many air cylinders being offered have a maximum working pressure of 232 bar or in some cases 207 bar. These are fine but with your average PCP Rifle requiring a 200 bar fill, the number of fills can be limited. We only supply air cylinders with a 300 bar working pressure and DIN type fittings. This effectively provides 14-times more air than the 207 bar cylinders ad 3-times more than a 232 bar for the same size cylinder (ltrs). That's up to 14-times more gun fills and up to 14-times less trips to have your cylinder filled. This also represents terrific savings. example - Lets say you have a PCP Rifle that is filled to 200bar and a 12 ltr 232 bar cylinder. You have it filled 6 times/year at an cost of say £4.00/fill. That's 6 trips to your local shop X £4 = £24. Now if you have a 12ltr 300bar cylinder you would only have 2 trips to your local shop for a fill and at £4.00 it would cost £8 saving you £16/year and however much fuel is saved by the number of trips to fill it up. Obtaining air is the next issue. Most good dive shops can fill air cylinders. However, the majority of these only have the capacity to fill to 232 bar. Here we are equipped to provide you with that 300 bar fill, and while you are waiting, have a friendly chat with one of the staff Slipster
Lord Geordie
I am guessing the Cylinder has about 200cc capacity and IF SO you will get about 12 fills of 190bar IF you refill at 110bar After that there will not be sufficient pressure in the tank to fill to 190bar again If your Cylinder has LESS capacity then more fills if a BIGGER capacity then LESS fills This was found using CHAIRGUN and based on a 208bar 12l diving cylinder LG Edited April 29, 2006 by Lord Geordie
killer rabbit (r1000)
i've just bought a 10ltr 207bar bottle (it was for my bsa spitfire... long story) for £40, he didn't realise that it hadn't been tested for some time as he hadn't used it for a while. but for £19.50 (paid by him in good faith) the bottle has just had a 5 year full test, can't be bad eh? ok, so i won't get many fills for my s200 from it, but i still have many other uses for when it's pressure is lower so i'll be making the most of it.
