killer rabbit (r1000)

:yp: i've been using the higher power ultrafire, surefire & spiderfire torches for quite some time now & i very highly rate them. they're ideal in size & power, batteries are easy to obtain & most of them fit straight into a scope mount (i have a few mounted into quick-release picatinny mounts). i've even sold several to some very impressed friends. as for buying these kits, sorry but i don't need them as i have some of these torches with variable focus, fantastic idea for other people though & i might still try blacking out the reflector on some as they still spill a little light.

if you're willing to travel to notts & have your own car i might be able to help as me & a mate are looking for a regular driver for our shoots. pm me for details...

personally, i've seen some very poor excuses for rabbits (they were so badly infected, they were literally dragging their rotten behinds around!) - these were obviously not very appetising, but i'm sure i've eaten one-or-two infected bunnies before now, & i'm still here myxi is a fungal infection which doesn't affect anything but bunnies (it's geneticly targeted - like sickle-cell in humans), you & your pets would not be affected by eating them. the only reason things like foxes won't eat some of them is, like us, they're simply put off by sight or smell... ...& as for rabbit fleas - don't worry about these, they dont seem interested in anything else (although they may be a main form of transport for myxi), you may want to keep an eye out for ticks though - they don't seem too fussy about what they latch on to & may carry other things...

don't know a great deal about vehicles, but as long as it can seat everyone (4 if you're both coming - some sites will only allow us to take one extra person though) then it's fine. as for the gun - as long as it's safe to use & you're able to use it comfortably... any gun can be effective when used properly...

a friend & i require a reliable driver to join our pest-control partnership based in nottingham (near city centre), must be a competent shooter who knows how to follow the country code! must also have own airgun & insurance (we don't use fac weapons) & own suitable vehicle (to carry 3 people + equipment). work is unpaid, but will allow you to shoot on lands in & around nottingham, probably beyond your expectations & whatever quarry you shoot is yours. (i'm sure we could pitch-in for your fuel though!) please pm me if you're interested...

good advice all round here! i know how difficult it can be gaining new permissions - i was lucky enough to know the right person to help with mine (we now run a pest control partnership & have just picked up on a few thousand acres of land - including a very large golf course ) good luck & don't worry if it takes a while - it will happen eventualy

sorry, doesn't look like an ultra to me...

i've made quite a few in the past & they've been effective using several types of wire, the best type is any thin twisted cable (picture wire is excellent, should be twisted cable for the `spring` qualities, bicycle brake cable also works but can be a little stiff due to it being a bit thicker). any wire snares should be of a non-locking (free-running) type as any that lock when tripped are illegal, this is to allow any protected or unintended quarry a chance to escape (not so easy for rabbit & hare!).

nice job on that one. gonna have a go at making one myself as i've just picked up on more permissions, i think i've got all the gear i need - just need to find a decent speed controler (could use an old cordless drill & rip it apart?)

ok, my deben's up for grabs at the moment & i now have a russian gen 1 3-stage starlight scope - i'm not joking, no lamp is needed for this thing! a little bulky but surprisingly light for it's size. going for a couple of minor mods which should do the trick nicely... :lol:

:unsure: so how do you explain there being a general licence for edible doormice?

just read through this years new general licences from natural england & was a little surprised at a couple of the new additions..... how many wild parakeets do we have in the uk? ... anyone know if there are any general licences available for mammals? (rabbit, hare, rat etc...)

i've heard it mentioned but not seen one yet... ...do you know the air-arms s200 started the same way as a co2 gun?

somewhere around 50 - 70 shots from a bottle at about 10 ft lbs from a bottle, if you can get an air cylinder made by a decent engineer you'll have a reasonable pcp out of it! (could save a lot of cash on airsource co2 bottles)

:o in my experience these are among the best of small sla batteries - i use them a lot myself, for the one you have you only need a small sla charger (these can be found at most electronic specialists, or even take the charger from some of those "kids" motorised buggies), don't try to charge it from a car or motorcycle charger (unless you have more than one connected in parallell), as it will get rather warm & won't last long (it may even present a fire hazard). the "designed for standby use" label means simply that it will keep the charge for much longer than other types when not in use.

as above & don't worry about having any time left on your mcaffee - the sooner you change the better you'll feel, & stay well clear of norton!
