ajm1979
Hi folks, after a slow start finally shot my first fox last night. I would really like to have the head mounted but I am struggling to find anyone locally that does it. The fox was shot last night in order to preserve it whilst looking for someone to mount it should I freeze it? Any help appreciated

ajm1979
Would you remove the head now or leave it whole untill ready to get done? What about any blood should I try and wash it off face now? Sorry for dumb questions.
steve_b_wales
Take the head off, as far back to the shoulder as possible. This will give the taxidermist more scope when he mounts it. Also, cut the tail off, as they are usually mounted underneath the head. Wrap them both in lots of newspaper before freezing. You could wash some of the blood off the face though, but dry the fur before putting it in the freezer. Steve.
unclestuffy
Cut the neck off at the base and don't do any more as you run the risk of cutting the skin and slicing up the eye lid. I often spray fly spray in the bag to help kill any flying/biting insects. I can get the names of taxidermists in the area if you would like
