12 Gauge Dave
Hey guys, got a Beretta 682 Supersport O/U 28" Barrels and have been shooting for about 6 months or so, I mainly shoot sporting and a little DTL. I want to try a Semi-Auto for a change and was wondering if anyone has any views on the Phoenix Plus and SX3 as first Semi's, They both seem to be about the same spec. I am entrigued to know if the Phoenix Plus would cycle 2.5" shells in it's 3.5" chamber . And does anyone know what chamber size the SX3 is, and as I mainly use 28g loads would they both cycle them properly? My local RFD is doing the Phoenix at £695 and the SX3 at £810. Cheers for any replies
kent
My SX3 will do anything from ultra light clay loads to 3 1/2" 63 grm lead loads. If a stopage was critical to scores in a comp i should go for a top end clay load, after all it will be very soft on the recoil so why use light stuff (that said i am no great clay basher). Both the latest Browning maxus and winchester use the FN manufactured action if you look closely its just things like trigger gaurd casings etc that desguise it. Both have the same LOP from the box though i think the browning feels shorter due to the pistol grip area.
Simon123
Id go for the SX3 before the Phoenix mate ;) The SX3's come in 3" and 3.5" mate ;) Edited September 8, 2011 by Simon123

Mike525steel
ive had bith of these guns and the winchester wins hands down all the way the pheonix is a truly base level gun and i think (dare i say it) id rather shoot an escort (Which for the record i have never owned) but i think if you truly want a cheap all rounder then the escort is your gun. the winchester is i close copy of the browning fusion (or the other way round) but it feels like a better made gun/ feels more modern
bullet boy
I cannot fault my SX3.It has never jammed once!Mine is the Camo version in 3.5" chamber.Superb gun IMO!
Gordon R
The Winchester is one of the very few autos I have never seen jam. I have seen Beretta - newer ones - and Benelli jam for fun. A friend just bought a Browning Maxus - very impressed. Too many autos are too light or poorly balanced. These seem just about right.
