Thanks for all the input guys, I eventually went for this scope from this supplier -

http://www.optical-systems.co.uk/barska-varmint-624x50-mil-dot-riflescope-p-2514.html

It's a 1" so i figured out that the leupold quick release mounts i have on the rifle can be bought in halfs so i have bought the 1" mounts and will keep the 30mm ones for when i get my scope from the states and can use the same bases and then maybe stick the barska onto another rifle later or sell it ontoone of you nice chaps... .

As i said previously I have a set of Barska bino's that i've had for a long time and they are excellent so i figured for 110ish euro's posted this is worth a punt....

so who all has a Barska scope to give a review....

Regards,

Gixer

As I posted earlier I have the Barska 6.5-20x50 version of the scope you ordered, it's not a bad scope, had a problem with eye relief when prone but sorted that, it's got the usual slightly blurry/milky problem at anything above 16x magnification but for the price I'm happy with it for now until my next trip to the US for a Sightron - SIII 8-32x56

Phaedra,

Thats pretty much what i'm doing, I see they have HD swarovski's over there and I bet they are the same price in dollars as they are here in pounds, if not cheaper...

These sightron's seem to be getting a mention a lot, might have a lookie at them, are they equivelant in quality to Swaro and Ziess? :hmm:

Hi gixer

I think you may be dissapointed looking for cheap european glass in the US it is just as dear over there and if you then get stung for tax when you get back it can turn out more expensive than buying here in the first place,i have tried

Geordie,

I've been over a few times and they are alot cheaper for gun parts, scopes and bino's....last time i was over we took back various bits ( was my mates Swaro scope and a Nikon buckmaster i took back)

There is a secret to the tax thing in that if it is used.....it shouldn't be taxed...

Although my friend did spen 10 minutes by security being asked "where is the rest of the rifle" when they saw the scope...

Regards,

Gixer
