Stratts
Hi guys the farmer on my newest permission has kindly offered me the use of his quad for shooting and said I can make a gun rest, etc, as I need for it. As I've never used one before I was wondering if anyone has any pics or suggested ways of making something. I have a workshop and mig welder to use and can fab things up myself, just not sure what to build! Was wondering if it'd be an idea to make something to mount a lamp on too, Cheers

Stratts
Rifles mate. Crikey 190 quid!! Should be able to do summit like that, cheers. I like the gun holder though!
al4x
yep something similar to that to shoot from but you also need somewhere to rest the rifle while you drive so a set of gun grips is idea attached on there somewhere. Stratts
Was thinking of welding a couple of J shaped holders to the underside of the rest? Are gun grips a specialist thing you can buy then?
al4x
something along these lines http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Gun-Storage/ATV-Gun-Bow-Racks%7C/pc/104792580/c/104730480/sc/104194980/Kolpin174-Rhino-Grip-Gun-Mounts/747086.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fshooting-gun-storage-atv-gun-bow-racks%2F_%2FN-1100216&WTz_l=SEO%3Bcat104194980

remmy1100
hi mate your best off welding on up made from tubing and make it so it adjust to different heights as if your going to mount lamp on it you dont want it too low and you want to be sitting upright taking shots ,i made one for mine and was glad i made it adjustable as found it needed tweaking when out in the field atb nick
Stratts
Thanks mate measured up yesterday and have an idea of how it's going to go together. Had thought about heights and gonna drill holes in square tubing to make adjustable with pins and clips to hold in place. Had a drive round on it last night and what a godsend it'll be in the winter!!
Redditch
Add a cigar lighter socket where you can charge gps, mobile phone or lamp batteries from, and if need run a lamp from it too (Be carefull you don´t drain the quad battery though) You can get waterproof ones from off the internet Edited September 19, 2011 by Redditch
Stratts
It has a built in waterproof socket already mate which I'll use for a lamp I'm guessing they are like a car and charge the battery while running?

12borejimbo
Ive got the solway feeders rifle rest, had hundreds of bunnies and foxes from the front of the quad, intact, so steady,i can rest the front of the rifle on the rest, and have my lamp in my left hand, and kill successfully!
