hooded or not?

Recommended Posts

hi. i'm thinking about getting some new cammo https://secweb1.pipemedia.net/uttings/Image...illlie_suit.gif however i was reading in total airguns that hoods are more of a hinderance due to restrictive vision and hearing. have people who have used similar set ups found this to be a problem? if so would it be more advisable to buy cammo without the 3/4 face mask or simply pull it down and use a boonie hat instead. Also while this has got me thinking, does anyone find scrims over your head restrict your hearing. AND, finally does the advantage of not having pink showing ant the front and sides, outweigh the fact that hearing and vision are restricted to the front?

I have always hated hoods because they restrict peripheral vision and hearing. I use a brimmed hat and face veil for duck and pigeons and find it more than adequate. If you wear a hat with a brim all the way round it will put your ears in the shade so they won't show up, save you from sunburn and keep the rain out of your neck. If you use muff type ear defenders a broad brimmed hat just dosn't work and you look like a **** so use plugs

Wouldn't buy a coat without a hood!! Don't really use a hood when shooting, although they are really handy if a cold wind is blowing from the back. I use a mesh face veil that covers the head , with a decent gap for my eyes. No need for a cap or hat, because the veil does the job, and I certainly don't feel my sight is hampered in any way. I see the birds and I shoot 'em!! By the way I NEVER wear camouflage clothing. Just stay behind the net until you are ready to kill 'em.
