smokinggun Posted September 22, 2011 Report Share Posted September 22, 2011 Hi Everyone, I Live in Chatteris cambridgeshire but spend most of my time in and around Cambridge as thats where i'm originally from, Been reading the posts on here for a while and thought it's about time i joined, I am just getting into Clay shooting and have been going to a club in cambridgeshire for taster sessions and really enjoyed it, I am currently looking to order a 2 gun break down cabinet (when i can find a cheapish one) as its all i can fit in my small house then i will apply for my shotgun certificate (all filled out and ready to go), i am asking around at work etc to hopefully find some land permission as well, I am hoping to dedicate a lot of time to it, even the wife wants to come and try, my dad used to shoot back in his day before all of the rules and regs on licences and i know he is itching to come with me and have another go to, Anyway nice to be a member here to talk to people with alot of passion and knowledge of the sport. ragged99 Posted October 16, 2011 Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 Welcome, me + Kate are both newbie shooters in Cambridgeshire, there are lots of shoots to go to. If you're in Chatteris, the nearest one is probabaly Fenland Clay club at Doddington. Get your SGC application off to Cambs police soon, I hear (from my sister who works there) that the summer workload is easing off now. They are usually pretty efficient and if your application has no issues then I'd expect you to be certified in about 3 or four weeks. Incidentally some of the cambridgeshire FEOs prefer to do the visit before the Cab is fixed, so they can advise on location. Give the office a call for advice.
