evening stalk

hi lads i was out friday for a stalk i left about 5 and thought i would get at least a couple of hour's before it was to dark to carry on.

i arrived at field which is only about 10 acres if that! but its in the heart of deer territory that they rome all over.

i had a walk round for a hour or so before deciding to "dig in" and wait where i had seen a nice roe buck with two does a couple of weeks before.

i walked up the small fields that is probley 20 yards wide by 300 yards long with a wall of bush/horthorn at both sides. at just under half way the field slopes off quite sharp and as i looked over there was three muntjak in the field.

there was no other option other than trying to get in postion without getting seen but they clocked me right away and walked into the bush. i got into a good spot and thought i would wait and see if they came back this one did,

he was hit at just under 160 with a 90g ppu 243 im finding the cal/round a bit messy on all deer (lot of meat damage) i prefer the 223 but with a chance of roe i take the 243

You're far too good to her Andy mate, does your generosity know no bounds?:lol::lol: I offered to get my other half a gun cleaning kit for Christmas and you will never guess where she threatened to poke the bronze brush  - Some women are never happy! :P

Things are pretty good at the moment especially as I have just had a phone call telling me that I am almost certainly out culling a few reds tomorrow and I can take some photos while I am there, so watch this space!

what do they do for a medal head n do you get any thing for it

they will take Measurements of the skull and weight add them all up and depending on the score weather you get bronze silver gold and then they post it back with a propper little medal. its just nice to know what they score at. i have a couple of good size heads that will look cracking on the wall with a medal hanging of them i guess its something to be proud of an Achievement.
