Medic1281
Hi, I've got a chance of a promatic colt clay trap. I'm just wondering if anyone has got/used one and what you think of it. It's only for private practice so won't get a massive amount of use. Any thoughts or comments welcome. Regards Phil
hitclays
hi Phil it will be fine for the odd shoot with a mate now and again or for teaching a novice.Problem is they are limited in as much as target presentation. If its at the right price go for it Edited October 13, 2011 by hitclays
Medic1281
Thanks for the reply. The one I've seen has got a wireless release and he says hasn't done much. They are asking £400 for it, I can't decide if it's a good deal or not!
handy4454
At £400 with remote its good value,we had two in a small Sunday shoot 12 people on a good day and they ran fine, they are adjustable for standards or midis but unlike the larger traps they do not have knife edge seperators so if you are using orange clays make sure the clays are not stuck together, the same with pickups if you last shot on a wet day or the clays got muddy. We had the pair for nearly 3 years and in that time replaced the arm rubbers,if you need spares Promatic give a brilliant service, when the club disbanded due to our ground changing hands the traps were sold off to a larger club and are still going fine 4 years later, the 55 stack capacity can be a pain but as you will be using it for practice it probably won't be an issue. atb handy
Northern Gunner
Thanks for the reply. The one I've seen has got a wireless release and he says hasn't done much. You can also get extension kits with allow you to load a greater clay capacity. The traps will give you good service so long as you keep the mechanics clean and well oiled. I used to have them on the shoot I run and they were fine until we expanded and needed traps with a greater capacity. Good luck.
Medic1281
Picked it up today. Looks really tidy and no signs of any wear. Not had chance to put any clays through it yet though. I got it with a wireless trigger, a wired trigger, a new battery and 2 boxes of clays all for £425 so I'm happy with that! Just need to get out and try it now! Thanks for your thoughts, Regards, Phil
