Gordon R
30" over and under, multichoke, with adjustable comb (stock) is probably your best starting point.
HDAV
If as your name suggest your an older shooter, then consider a decent butt pad/recoil reducer as 12 pack alot more punch than a .
geriatric
If as your name suggest your an older shooter, then consider a decent butt pad/recoil reducer as 12 pack alot more punch than a .22 Yep, I am an Older shooter - retired last year. Your advice is very sound and I would want a recoil reducer however as with all recoiling long guns butt placement is also an important consideration. When shooting recently with a borrowed gun I did find the pad a great enhancement to placement. I have been fortunate in the past to use several centre fire guns such as a Winchester 44-40, SMLE .303, Walther p38 (Lovely pistol), Artillery Luger, Colt Python 357mag, a Colt 45 ( peacemaker type) and a colt 45 ACP. to mention a few. It is a great pity that it is now illegal to own the guns. I understand that some of the eastern European countries allow different types of guns to be lent and used by visitors for a fee. Might pay a visit sometime. Cheers
HDAV
Fit is important, a good fit and a nice Kick Eez pad or similar and you'll be fine. Edited October 18, 2011 by HDAV
inthedark
Nip down your local clay ground and try a few, you'll soon know what suits.
