ziplex
Was at Brean sands weds, out of no where a pair of Brent Geese flew past, I followed them for approx 500 yards in the car as they flew along the edge of the tide then settled. Don't see many of these down here, lovely they are too

Dr D
they are an absolute curse and should be put back on the quarry list. We have tens of thousands of the bloody things and they have totally destroyed duck shooting on the coast, pushing the wigeon and teal off the shore and generally running a muck on the Zostera. The only decent ducks are now all inland because the brent (THANK GOD) behave different from greylag/pinks and tend to stay on the coast. If we were the same as the US and able to have a go at them I would have to buy cartridges by the wheelbarrow load. If you don't see too many Brent in your area you should thank your luck stars. An amazing and spectacular sight to see them, but in this part of the world they really do raise the question of when birds that have been removed from the list ought to be added back on. In my opinion the Brent is a wonderful example of conservation in practice leading to the resurgence of a species, but a terrible example of shooting interests being trampled on. lets start a campaign. BRING BACK THE BRENT!!!!!!!

ziplex
I haven't seen/heard many, when they are about that unmistakable soft toy/wheesy '' whistle is evident........but nothing much yet. It was cold and pretty grim last year before they were about in any numbers, certainly on the inland river stretches.
