out of the fog!

Was out tonight with the father in law, headed from the house and at first farm within 20 minutes. By the time we got there, the rain was pouring and the fog was coming in quick. Cut through the farm for about 15 minutes, sticking to the paths because the fields were turning to bogs and decided to head home and return to fight another day.

On impulse and clutching at straws, we decided to stop at another farm permission on the way down the road. Headed into the farm and trawled around for about 30 minutes with pouring rain and about 50m at most of visibilty. Deciding enough was enough, the flask was out and a quick brew consumed, before departing.

We then head off from the farm and as we get to the end of the track before the junction with the main road, we have a last quick shine with the lamp into the adjacent field and there is foxy just sitting 20 yards from us not caring a jot. Father in law lines boyo up in the cross hair and just to add to the excitement, boyo runs at the mili-second the trigger is pulled resulting in a near miss.

Boyo the decides he is a cocky so and so and runs about 50 yards into the fog and decides its a face of with only his eyes showing, I manage to pick up the faintest of eyes in the lamp but the father in law is struggling to pick it out in the scope for a clear shot, so boyo just swaggers around. Because the field is too boggy to go in the decision is made to head back into the farm and head round by another track. The journey is about 5 mins and we are not really expecting another siting.

We get around to the closest we can get to the field without getting swamped, a quick once over with the lamp and boyo is about 50m out, not giving two jots and the fog has lifted, father in law gives it a big whispered " the cheeky ********* is not ging a toss" and puts one in the boiler.

Leave the lamp on it and get out on foot to retrieve the bism but the fog comes down and take half an hour to find the so and so. Oh yah boyser, well worth the effort because it the biggest so ans so, i've been involved with. Father in law is 5'10", and boyo from the end of his tail at shoulder level, touched the ground and was solid right through.

What went from being a **** night turned into a absolute belter, and not bad perseverance for a 75 year old!

Good shooting, well done.

But I must ask, did you take the picture with a potato?

 Said earlier I was a technophobe, don't know what happened, original picture was too big to post, so tried cropping the image on my phone and it turned out like this.

Will get my kids to teach me how to use it one day, its supposed to be a smart phone but it doesn't seem very smart to me!
