enumber
Hi all. I am off to Cumbria this weekend to visit family and was intending to head over to Penrith Gun Club on the Sunday. The CPSA website has them down as having a 100 DTL comp on that day. However I have been unable to contact anyone regarding the club. I just wanted to confirm the loacation and times etc. Also i'm not actually a member of the CPSA (little point as there seems to be no Registered shoots around Manchester) yet so wasn't sure if they would let me shoot birds only. I have tried the mobile number on the CPSA website listing to no avail, the answerphone message is dated January this year! Starting to wonder if they still exist. Does anybody on here shoot there and can let me know more info, or a contact number. Cheers. Either way i'll probably head over and try and find them on Sunday. It would be a good club for me as i'm up to that way quite often so could probably get over to quite a few of the competitions, perhaps ill bother joining the CPSA and try and get a ranking. The only other place nearby was Greenquarries who only do lessons. Is there any other grounds in the area on a weekend?
BlaserF3
Try this one http://www.sportfocus.com/comdir/cditem.cfm?NID=61976 Follow the road towards Bowscar after the roundabout, the shoot is on the left hand side of the road. http://www.crabtreeclayshoot.co.uk/ is open on Saturdays, it's a sporting layout, fibre wad only, very friendly. enumber
Thanks Blaser. I tried that number but no answer. I left a message on both so i'll see if anyone gets back to me. Booked a lesson at Green Quarries £60/100 clays all in for the Sunday. Considering I normally pay around £40 for 100 (when you add carts) an extra £20 for the tuition isnt bad. Apparently he specialises in simulated game and has a High Tower/Cherry Pickers. I'll report back if it's any good.
OvEr_KiLL
I went to penrith 100 DTL today and had loads of fun, ive been a few times so far i got 80/233 its usually on every other weekend, it was very busy today aswel, you dont need to book the DTL just turn up and caroline in the office sorts the squads out and its best to ring on a sunday morning when the club is open
enumber
Looks like I should have just rocked up. That will serve me right for trying to be organised! Oh well perhaps next time I'm up. Green quarries was excellent. The high pheasant and simulated driven partridge were especially good. He can rotate/elevate the traps remotely so your never sure which line the next bird is going to take. Peter is an excellent coach, sorted out a problem I had taking high birds going to my left. He got me tucking my right shoulder down and taking them as crossers. I went from hitting none to nailing pretty much all of them after that. Also helped me improve my gun mount which improved my hit rate as the lesson progressed. I'd definitely recommend it if your a game shooter wanting a warm up before a driven day, or just a clay basher after some out of the norm targets.
