  1. Hi Montydog. I have a camo hatsan escort for sale. I've been meaning to post it up on PW. I need the space in the cabinet as I've started shooting a Benelli instead. I'm based on North Manchester straight off the m60 so shouldnt be too bad a run for you. Let me know if your interested and I'll PM you some pics and serial no. etc
  2. I think that's a good call. My neighbour has just done something similar to use the cellar as a lockdown office space and seems to be fairly habitable after that. Gonna be significant time and expense so I'll have to keep it at bay in the meantime. I'll might just have to get really regular on the cleaning routine, rather than the ones that get used the most get cleaned the most. The one that's show a bit of corrosion is admittedly one I don't use very often. Fortunately I had a bit of a cull and got rid of a few guns a year or two back so not got too many to clean these days.
  3. Good shout on that. I have found one on Amazon for ~£40. I might double that up with the acf-50 And vpi paper mentioned above. I'm a little bit OCD and if they get rusty it will do my head in
  4. Already tried to address that. I fitted an envirovent extractor fan that runs 24hrs/365 and fitted a new rad which keeps it at minimum 15c. I'd hate to think how bad it would be if I hadn't done those 😣 But that said and done I'm still considering a stand alone dehumidifier outside the cabinet.
  5. A little help and advice sought please. My brattonsound gunsafe is in the cellar. Needless to say this isn't an ideal location, but it's out of sight and realistically is the only practical location in the house except the loft, which isn't really that practical as I would wake my young children accessing them on my early morning and night shooting exploits. Unsurprisingly one of my guns is starting to show some minor signs of corrosion. Despite fairly regular cleaning and ritualistic application of silicone spray and silicone cloth before putting them away. I've even tried putting them all in silicone gun socks while in the safe. The cellar is damp to the point I fitted an extractor fan to try and wick away the moisture. I've also been putting in those moisture traps from the homeware stores. Though these aren't great as if they spill the contents as turns out the chemicals are pretty corrosive. I had to change a screw on my butt plate as it came into contact with the fluid and rusted pretty badly. I'm looking at other solutions for humidity. I've tried all of the above plus the usual vp90 sachet and even those vp90 wipes. My thoughts are an electronic bar type dehumidifier or some sort of mini fan vent, like you get in the backs of PC's. I could fit a very narrow electrical cord in the door hinge. Otherwise it would mean drilling a small hole. Has anyone ever done this, I assume it's fairly strong steel? Also would this wreck the cabinets BS certification, even if it was only a tiny 6+8mm whole to accommodate an electrical cord.
  6. I'm interested in one of these. Got 'horsey' neighbours and they seem to think hearing shots will send the horses into meltdown. Although you can quite plainly see the horses happy as Larry carrying on eating oblivious to the noise. She came marching over morning just as I was starting to make a real dent in the corvids that had been pecking the sheep. I politely apologised and packed up and referred back to the farmer to ask how he wanted to deal with it. The farmer wants to keep them sweet as her fella helps out with some of the livestock when he's away. Although he agrees she's talking absolute rubbish about it scaring the horses. He's asked me to keep to the other end of the farm away from their boundary. But as **** law dictates it's where all the best flight lines and sitty trees are. Has anyone successfully used one of these with a Hatsaan escort? They aren't listed in the choke options, but do they match the Mobil chokes? Also have you the ability to choose your choke, I'd probably go for 1/2. Is the a-12 steel and plaswad safe? I know the hushpower once are fibre only
  7. Hi sniper0161, Only just saw this,I'm surprised at the lack of interest. I'm north Manchester so Cheshire is fine for me. I do a lot of pigeon and crow shooting, plus rough shooting in the season. DSC1 qualified and BASC. Got a .270 but my license isn't open so I need to go out with someone when shooting the rifle. Keen to get into foxing. If you've not already found someone and still want someone to join you please let me know. Cheers
  8. Some silly NIMBY apparently. It must be unbearable having you peace and quiet disturbed one morning a fortnight!! Selfish ****!
  9. Yeah it is. The A6 and Bolton gun club shared the site. Bolton has reopened at a new site on Ringley Road, Radcliffe, M26 1DT. www.boltongunclub.co.uk They meet every other Sunday, sporting only for now but they were installing the DTL layout last weekend so that might be up an running at the next shoot.
  10. Or she! So summary execution is out of the question then?
  11. Green quarries nine miles southwest of Carlilse. Quite a drive from where you are though. £60 for 100 clays of simulated game shooting. I was initially put off but the price but Pete comes round with you and provides instruction. The targets are really unique, the simulated partridge flush is great fun and the high tower really is high! My high bird shooting improved massively after my last visit.
  12. For free? Worth it even just to give the b**stards the extra paperwork.
  13. Apologies for the Environmental Health/Agency mixup. Regarding footpaths I'm sure there would be a way to manage access during shooting hours. I agree people shouldn't be stopped from using a footpath but they can't expect to have access 24/7 365. What is stopping the farmer putting a bull in the field? I'm sure as hell that would temporarily stop people using the rights of way. There must be countless rifle ranges that use the red flag system to stop people straying into harms way. If necessary shooting could be suspended while ramblers used the footpath and re-commenced once they were out of the area. It would be an interesting exercise to mount a few motion activated trail cameras on the footpaths to see how often they were actually used, especially as one of them appears to be a dead end. I'm sure the club would bend over backwards to accommodate reasonable measures if the council was prepared to enter a debate about it. The council seems rather eager to say no. Well it is a Labour majority council and as a party they don't have the best record on shooting to say the least!
  14. Application Refused! On the grounds that it is too near to residential properties. Apparently the Environment Agency recommend a minimum distance of 1-1.5km from any houses. Not sure how many locations actually exist in the England that don't have any houses within that distance! It seems the fact that the other ground had been in almost exactly the same location for 37 years was lost on Bolton Council. The old ground had an exception granted in 2001 as it had been in operation for over ten years and I suppose anybody buying a property would be doing so in the full knowledge that the ground existed. There were also issue of rights of way and objections about building a club house on green belt, though the regulations state that exceptions can be made for essential facilities for outdoor sports. Not sure where they will go from there, appeal or look for another site? Another option would be to operate for less than 28 days in a year. Keeping under this threshold means no planning consent is required. Though I doubt they would be able to build skeet towers and a club house. Probably have to settle with a sporting layout and a DTL.
  15. Not sure, apparently the sale fell through so the current owners still have it, minus two successful clay clubs paying them thousands in rent every year. Serves them right if you ask me. The farmer ploughed it up without consulting the club while they were still tenants. Not sure if that would prevent an extraction company reclaiming the lead? What it did do was leave a muddy field covered in plastic wads and bits of broken clay, which looks a lot worse than the same debris hidden in the long grass.
