On Rabbits it's head shots only for me Dave .............Went back to the Fac air rifle and gave up with the .22lr ...........

Do you lamp alone ?

If so you won't want those cumbersome sticks or 4' legs on a Bi-pod .

 

Paunch ........Using your thumb press on the rabbits belly and work your way down to the Tail ,this will empty the bladder .

Gutting ..........Stanley knife down from breast bone to anus and throw the guts out .

 

Try to do this in the field as as been mentioned previously .

 

Buy a range finder ................Would,nt be without mine now .............There is nothing better than pinging a rabbit 120yds away knowing that 60 paces later using fieldcraft your in range .........One less thing to think about

Yip - I mostly lamp alone - difficult to find another nocturnal worker near me who could hunt all night on some nights off.

Dave, I have recently bought some new 9-13 Harris pods but I wonder if I should have tried the longer version. Especially with the summer growth about to start sprouting. They maybe slighlty heavier, but they will get you out of the grass and steady whilst sitting or kneeling.
