Thunderbird
Bottled it today. Had a wee taste and it's bsolutely lovely. Made with blackcurrants from the garden. Many of the currants had actually turned into sultanas, or something very like. Will post a pic when I've downloaded it. I'm just deciding what to do with the soused fruit. Thunderbird
Cassis is actually a blackcurrant liqueur used to make Kir (cassis and white wine) but your suggestion gives me a VERY fine idea. Thanks.

Thunderbird
Ended up making it on the 13th July, in the kilner jar and will bottle in November again. Been giving it a stir every other day. Smells amazing.
scobydog
I've done it with rhubarb, tastes good, but make sure rhubarb is ripe or it will be foul.
hillmouse
I've made blackcurrant vodka and it is really good. Don't go too heavy on the sugar and leave it as long as your willpower will allow. It's almost as good as port. Almost.
Thunderbird
Agreed. I finished the final drop a year after making it.
