Lloyd90
On my 243 rifle stock the rifle sits slightly leaning to the left side  The first stock I had on it was much worse and they swapped it for a different stock, It looked fine at the time but lately It seems to be similar just not so bad. Now what I'm wondering is can I take the stock off and sand a bit off down the length of the fore end without affecting the use of the rifle at all ? I assume it would probally take some of the finish off and therefore I would need to sand the factory finish off, sand/file down a bit of wood from down the fore end where the barrel sits so there's a bit more space for it to be free floating, then re finish the stock with oil Does this sound about right ? How hard do you think this would be ? cheers
steve_b_wales
I did the same with a BSA 22LR many years ago. I only had to take a fraction of wood off, so the barrel would float properly. I used elbow power and some various grades of sand paper. It looked okay in the end, and I just used a wood dye on the stock to finish it off. It was'nt difficult to do.
