Closing my silver pig with top lever locked?

Hello,

When cleaning my silver pig I reassembled and 3/4 shut then realised it was stiff and the top leaver was in the middle (locked position). I have now done this twice where I have forced it and not noticed.

Has anyone else done this and is it ok? Is there some sort of locking leaver system that allows unto shut it in this way?

Thanks ian

Hi, Yes thats what i have done. when i transport or clean i push the little back button and allow the top lever to go to central and release tension on the spring.......

But then before pushing back over to the right i put the gun back together and shut it with the top lever in the centre position

Many thanks ian

On mY 682 I just make a habit of moving the top lever across to the "open" position before I try and reassemble the gun. This ensures that the conical locking bolts are retracted before I close the barrels to the action. When the barrels close onto the action face they (the barrels) depress the little button that releases the locking bolts into the tapered holes in the barrels and locks everything up tight. I wouldn't have thought that closing a Beretta with the locking bolts in the open position is a healthy thing to do....but hey! I'm not a gunsmith.

best regards
