Mr mac
Hello, When cleaning my silver pig I reassembled and 3/4 shut then realised it was stiff and the top leaver was in the middle (locked position). I have now done this twice where I have forced it and not noticed. Has anyone else done this and is it ok? Is there some sort of locking leaver system that allows unto shut it in this way? Thanks ian
Richard.Hosgood
I've done it twice when cleaning without any issues after. I couldn't tell you if it's bad for anything or not, but don't worry - you won't do it again
EdSolomons
You have just released the tensin on the spring (by pressing it the little bump that sticks out the face of the action at the top left if I remember right). No harm caused.
ChrisAsh
On O/U you can release the lever back to the central position by pressing the small lever inside the block below the firing pin holes, which may be what yo have done
Mr mac
Hi, Yes thats what i have done. when i transport or clean i push the little back button and allow the top lever to go to central and release tension on the spring....... But then before pushing back over to the right i put the gun back together and shut it with the top lever in the centre position Many thanks ian Edited November 22, 2011 by Mr mac
Mr mac
Any more ideas on this as I've once done it again! Ian
Spara Dritto
You are saying that the 2 conical locking bolts that come out of the receiver face where protruding and you tried to close it? I’ve done this once, but didn’t slam it, it just didn’t shut. I’m sure they will be fine, just check them over properly and also check the lugs that they fit into for damage. mr salt
i have never done this but once i took my 391 to bits and couldnt get back together. i have learnt just walk away from it have a cup of tea and then have another go. 2nd time it went back together straight away. calm down and dont force it or it will break. ferrodo
On mY 682 I just make a habit of moving the top lever across to the "open" position before I try and reassemble the gun. This ensures that the conical locking bolts are retracted before I close the barrels to the action. When the barrels close onto the action face they (the barrels) depress the little button that releases the locking bolts into the tapered holes in the barrels and locks everything up tight. I wouldn't have thought that closing a Beretta with the locking bolts in the open position is a healthy thing to do....but hey! I'm not a gunsmith. best regards R
