Donnie
Hi all, Looking at a new jacket for xmas.and tied between Two. Would be used for dog training and a bit of duck flighting and pheasants, no foreshore. The seeland has doggy extras but I hear the Rivers West is maybe better for shooting. Any experiance with either the Rivers West Jarrett Wildfowler or the Seeland thornhill jacketwoukd be appreciated i.e warmth, weight comfort Thsnks
WGD
Buy any jacket you like and either a game bag for your training kit/ducks or a training vest that can go over the jacket.

Albert 888
I have the rivers west jarrett jacket max 4 its very good for on the marsh. But they fit funny and the zip is on the ladys side. Its also very short in the lenghth of the body and only has two pockets.I like it as wear chest waders and i can get to my cartridge belt also very warm and dry.Would recomend another jacket for training the dogs and normal use. WGD
Wouldn't recommend Seeland Thornhill - is it still in the range? I have the trousers - they are no better than "ok" and do let in water in harsh weather.
vulpicide
Harsh weather in Scotland surely not?

That's true of any American jacket - Zips are all on the wrong side

Any experiance with either the Rivers West Jarrett Wildfowler or the Seeland thornhill jacketwoukd be appreciated i.e warmth, weight comfort Thsnks My only criticism of the Rivers West gear is breathability... great looking, waterproof, tough gear but it is completely airtight so... if you are going to be exerting yourself at all (i.e. anything that might bring on even a light sweat) you will get condensation inside and end up as wet as not having a waterproof on at all.. I got rid of my RW jacket for just this. If you are going to be static then they are fantastic. Edited November 23, 2011 by Vipa

Glad I read that, I looked at one of there products as a lightweight alternative for stalking but if you sweat up I'll cross it off the list. chrispti
My deerhunter jacket has seen some pretty harsh weather and never let me down yet. Also have a musto retriever vest for dog trg and shooting. Nice in the summer and wear it over a jacket in the winter Also recommend the Barbour Dunmoor fleece, I have sat in some torrential rain in it and again, it never leaked
