ace32 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Share Posted December 4, 2011 hiya ben,lot,s of info about on the 204 out there,plenty scope for hand load,s,a lot of peep,s are useing the 39g sbk,but a lot depend,s on the barrel twist,and what range you are shooting,few lad,s on here have em,plenty info about,i will be reloading for me and my mate,we both going 204 after xmas,it,s just finding a rifle up here in the frozen n,east(might as well be on the n pole)as rfd,s only semm to carry the bare basic,s,that they can make a killing off,204 seem,s a bit exotic for em,why not have a 22 rimmy,or an hmr,then we shaft you with our ammo prices,some times it,s better to live down south,what variety of 204 are you running,some good vid,s on u tube,of long range shooting,the 204 get,s out there on the bunnies big style,load,s of info on this site,http://www.204ruger.com/forum/ the yank,s do it well,know there rifles,and have fun,any chance you can pop details of your rifle,a pic or two would be nice,was offered a chance to shoot a 204 of a fella on here,but lived to far away,gutted,try the search box at the top of the page,plenty to find,catch you later,of to get some sloes,more vodka going in the cupboard this morning,and got to look for a recipe for slider,,,ian Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
pestcontrol1 Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Hi Ian yer iv seen some vids on you tube iv done bunnys out to 400 yrds fox to about the same just got to watch for the wind ya get abit more bend on it then 243 which iv shot for years wi a 55gr with varget. Iv got a howa with a varmint barrel on it i was zoroing in a few weeks ago with a mate and won my self £50 by making 2 thumb tacks vanish lol at 150 yrds very accurate. il put you a pic on later on mate were abouts in north east are you at am near brid east coast. cant beat having plenty of slow on the go Edited December 4, 2011 by pestcontrol1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ace32 Posted December 4, 2011 Report Share Posted December 4, 2011 hiya ben,up in co durham,the howa is on our checklist,again depend,s how far we need to travel to get our 204,and what,s available,be a lot easier if we lived in the states,buy gun,s in the local asda type shop,lot of people recomend the savage,i like the tika t3,but pricey,my local rfd,shoots a remi 204,and reckons it,s the most acurate rifle he has,mate reckon,s on the howa,so lot,s of choce,will prob go heavy barrel,had a play with my hornet last week,whilst out ferreting,barrel got warm pretty quick whilst putting a zero on the scope,well another 2 bottles of sloe vodka done the day,via the cooking method,give it a couple of day,s to settle,then have a taste,going to make some slider for the laddie with the sloes when i decant the other bottles,reckon it is rocket fuel,catch you later,stay straight,,ian Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
pestcontrol1 Posted December 5, 2011 Author Report Share Posted December 5, 2011 Hi ian mine has the hevi varmint barrel on it weighs a fair bit but dont matter to much when your on bipod not shot any other so cant comment on what they shoot like mate but if there out like mine :good: I ant noticed the barrel getting hot on mine even when i put a full mag throw it at paper. iv only got 2 bottles on the go at min but cant wait to get it cracked open Have you tried any spots round this end to see what they have in mate or what they can get you in at right money !!!! Alycidon Posted December 6, 2011 Report Share Posted December 6, 2011 Sounds like you have got the hang of the 204 just swell. 32s or 39 Sierra Blitz kings are what most are using reload wise, from memory you want about a 1 in 11 twist for the 39s. scotland rifles Posted January 8, 2012 Report Share Posted January 8, 2012 not a 204 but a 20 tactical, running a 20" barrel on a custom job, running 25gr rl10x with the 40 gr pill, best fox yet was out to 376 yards. 1" high at 100 got me there with no issues at all. total charlies for the last 2 years is about 138 to 140, and well over 500 bunnies from 100 yards to 440 with no issues, great wee caliber like the 204. bob. I think if i have got it wright the powder is N140 and they should be pushing 4225fps with a 32gr. we will have to swap notes on load data. ben Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hi Bob yes you cant beat the smaller cal for vermin. I have my 204 set at +1" @ 100 ant it -3" @300 and it drops off to about -30" @ 500 yrds but when you play about on paper you can soon sort it out and put good groups at 500. longest fox with the 204 is just over 400 yrds without any problems. i think my tally last year on foxes was 130 ish but about 100 of them would have been with my 243. ben Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
