mikky
might be getting a howa 1500 .223 varmint..but which scope to get? nikko sterling diamond 3-9x42 nighteater 3-10x42 simmons pro hunter...dont know anything about scopes the 3-9x42 is to do with magnification but what is the 3 and the 9x42 exactly obviously you pay for lens quality and build..but i will be shooting at 200 yds at the club.the above scopes are between 75-115 quid. i know some will say they are complete waste of money,i just want something that will do..not into badge names, just want something that will do the job at 200yds once a month any feedback will be appreciated cheers mikky
Dempy
Get the BEST you can afford, I put a Nighteater on a Howa .243 and it is not on there anymore, save up or look at second hand, but get the best you can, at 200 yards, you really want 8x mag aswell imho! Alycidon
Simmons do a decent cheap scope. I have a small 1.5 x 5x 20, been no problem at all. Optics are very decent considering the cost and it holds zero. A
Dempy
cheers for that..where does the 8x magnification fit in on the scope details eg where in the 3-9x42 mikky Its the first part, 3-9 is a variable scope meaning you can adjust it from 3x mag to 9 times mag. aister
Objective Lens: The objective lens is the lens closest to the object being viewed. It is measured in millimeters in diameter. A larger objective lens allows more light to enter the scope. In a three to nine by forty (3-9X40) scope, the 40 is the objective lens size. Power: The power of the scope is the same as magnification. A 10X (ten power) scope magnifies ten times, and makes the object appear ten times closer than with the naked eye.
