Mungler
Hares are a strange one. The farmer I go shooting with will kill anything that breathes god's clean air but won't shoot a hare.
Cranfield
We had a shoot that was 40% small apple tree orchards (none more than 6ft tall), if we didn't commit to shoot hares 12 months of the year, we would not have kept that shoot. Its also fair to comment that there was no shortage of hares in that area and no matter how many were shot, it did not seem to dent the population at all. Now I live in an area with not so many hares, I don't shoot them.
sutty
I was out on the peas on Wednesday and counted nine Hares in the same field. (about 30 acres) The Farmer likes to see them so i dont shoot them. On the adjoining permision i have, the old fella aint to keen on them so i take the odd one to keep him happy. As for missing to high or low?, distance is hard to judge at the best of times, even more so in failing light and as your Dad will tell you. Practice ,Practice ,practice. cheers Sutty.
