foggy011983
I've been looking into joining a range but it looks like it's not going to be possible. All the ranges I've looked at require you to have a person who is already a member to swear you in. How do people get into the sport if you have no contacts in a club. It seems rediculous in a way to me. Had anyone else found this our managed to find a way to work round it.
HDAV
You could Join one of the Bisley Clubs... the http://www.nra.org.uk/ is the best place to start
Bloke
I don't think they are all like that. I am doing my probationary period with a club up here, and while I had a sponsor, another guy turned up on one of the club open days and enrolled from there. foggy011983
You could Join one of the Bisley Clubs... the http://www.nra.org.uk/ is the best place to start I have recently contacted the nra, what they have done is passed my details to local clubs so they can contact me. They don't give the contact details out. The ones that have called so far say you need a sponsor. The grove looked ideal but the application days you need one to. I think because most the clubs are peoples home phone numbers that is the reason why I couldn't find much details online. I have seen bisley but it's quite far to travel, I was hoping for something closer but if there isn't then I'll try there.
foggy011983
Well I've just spoken to a person from the herts and essex club. I found out the site I was going to was a old link. Thanks nra lol. They seem to offer exactly what I want so now I'll just have to wait for some more info. Time to keep fingers crossed. HDAV
From what I know most clubs do trial sessions a couple of times a year home office rules, there are some good NRA events and alot of clubs use the bisley ranges so worth keeping an eye out for open to the public events and going along to meet members of local clubs
Imperfection
What you need to do is find out if the clubs you're intrested in joining have open days.Home office rules state that clubs can allow non-members to have a go with firearms 12 times a year and most offer this once a month. This is a good way of allowing people to have a go with something often alien to them and it also allows them to see if they actually want you. Hi foggy, try asking if you can go along as a guest to have a go and see how you get on alternativelly see if they ask if they are having an open day (most clubs do) and then you can meet people and hopefully get to know folks that way. Cheers Dave.
