Hi There

Fancied getting some Winter sun and getting some practice in Clay Busting. I have booked a 4 Day Break with Alicante Shootin Breaks in February. Wondered is anyone had been on one of tehse and what they are like. If you have did you take your own guns with you or did you use their's.

If you took your own what were the Spanish Customs like at the other end when you travel with firearm ?m BTW I already have my European Shotgun Certificate.

I have been emailing the owner David and he seem very reasonable and helpful, however, I hgave heard that the hotel they use id the pitts.

Any information that you could give me would be grately appreciated.

Many thanks

Pat

Have flown into Malaga a couple of times with my own gun,

You will have to go to the police/customs section where they will hand you your gun after checking all your documentation.

You have to pay a small fee (cant remember how much) and get your EFP stamped.

The whole process is really trouble free and gets you through a bit quicker, you will also get funny looks off people as you walk around with a case with "Firearms" tape all over it.

Flown into Malaga several times with my gun. Make sure you have a European gun permit they are issued free from your local firearms police dept.Your gun must be in a lockable hard case but i have even seen one in a soft case tapped to a plank. This i would not reccomend. You have to declare to the airline that you are carrying a firearm, some airlines will not accept them so check the airline before you book. When you get to the check in desk mention descreetly to the check in person that you need special clearence as you are carrying a firearm, this usually goes smoothly and the check in person descreetly informs the airport police, who will come and check out your documents relieve you of your gun after checking it out in full view of all the other passengers, and hopefully your gun should travel on the same plane as you . I always check with the chief steward once on board that it has happened ( again descreetly)Once at Manchester Airport in spite of my descretion the doopy check in dolly set a claxon off.At the other side one of two things will happen. The police will have your gun in their office once you have got your luggage and you go through the red channel and declare it again.OR your gun will be on the luggage carousel with everyone elses suitcases. This is a 50/50 event. If you are going to just one gun club, i would ask to leave it in the armoury at the club and pick it up the morning you come home , hotels are not too keen in you having your gun in the hotel room and none of them have gun safes. If you would rather use the club guns which i know can be a bit of a lottery phone the club first to make sure that they have a gun that should suit you. Lastly ENJOY. If you go in the summer wear gloves 'cause your barrels will be red hot. from Auntie.

Marbella Gun club, which is not in the concrete jungle of Marbella but in the hills above in quite a nice location. There is rather a nice eaterie there the shooting is restricted to a very good compact layout a skeet layout and a trap layout with a fantastic backdrop of sky. It may have changed now as it's a number of years since i was there. They also had some rather nice chalets for hire at the site. When i went it was run by a Brit but i think it has changed hands afew times since then. From Auntie.

I shot there about 5 years ago. It was pretty much as you have described still. :good:

Ive shot there on two different holidays now, great place, but as far as i know its closed now

for a pure shooting holiday it was great, there were 5 of us and shot there 4 times in the week,

Asked for and got the members discount which saved us quite a bit of money.

When we were there last it had a full sporting layout covering the whole ground as well as Skeet/Olympic skeet/DTL/compact
