Ferretboy111
Hello guys, Just went out with my friend who has just bought a savage 917 synthetic stock brand new with a nikko stirling 4-12*42 scope and 100 rounds for £290..... I love it, i was suprised at how much crack the little beast has in it and also how fast the little thing goes.... only about a week left now until i get my firearms through... Really cant wait now, they are amazingly brilliant. Alex
Axe
Was out last night with my 17HMR on a large golf course. Had a walk over the range and spied 3 rabbits happily chewing and digging. Got down on the pods at around 100 yards and in about 15 seconds from the first shot, was getting back up to go and pick them up. Oh what a smile that put on my face. You will thoroughly enjoy the round, but get an ASE Utra to help with the noise.
Ferretboy111
Yeah he has an ultra on his savage, however it doesnt seem to really quieten it much. im afraid my funds wont cover the ultra so ill just av to stick with the cheaper one for 30 notes, cant remember what its called. s summit. Axe
The cheaper £30 'mod with no name' works very well, I have one on mine. I am led to beleive the ASE is marginally better by only 10%.
al4x
the noise issue is really odd, it can sound very loud from the trigger end yet other rabbits in the area simply sit there. I have sat down range of one being fired obviously in a safe area and the noise is very odd because it is just the crack you have no idea of where its coming from
Axe
I really think its down to your surroundings and how the sound gets bounced around. In a very open space the sound is dissapated quickly and fairly quietly. In areas lined by tress etc the sound seems 'bigger'. I've also noticed that very short shots i.e. 30yards are very much quiter, in enclosed areas.
al4x
yes some of ours is in valleys and the sound is really quite loud. I shot a few rats a while back at 10 yards and the noise wasn't much more then a .22.

Ferretboy111
Ah yes the SAK, from what the rifle heard like with an ultra on i dont really think that there will be much difference in noise as well, there was still the good old CRACK...... i was suprised at the crack and i personally like it. Makes it seem more muscular. Alex
Axe
Alex, If you think the small amount of crack that you heard with the moderator on was musculer, wait till you try it with the moderator off! you'll think its Nuclear
