ciaran
Just put a deposit on a Beretta AL390 Silver Mallard , anyone have this gun, or have any opinions on it?
Sandbank
I have got a AL390 Gold Mallard. Connecting rod broke a couple of weeks back... but that was after 15 years and many thousands of shells. No practical difference between the Gold and Silver. Great gun, can be pain to clean if not done frequently but look after it and it will not let you down. In 15 years estimate I have had no more than 4 or 5 mis-cycle problems (prior to the rod breaking). Dekers
Even James Bond go rid of his!!! Ha Ha, thats the movies, and if memory serves me correctly it was a 418 pistol that got caught in his holster, nothing wrong with the gun, and fairly obviously not a shotgun! The current Beretta 9mm pistols are sought by armed forces all over the world today, and commonly acknowledged as world beaters. The British want them but the MoD won't pay for them! Sandbank
Did you get a new connecting rod for it? And is it hard to replace one if so? Answer Yes and No on latter point. GMK got a replacement to me in less than a week, cost around £18. Fitting extremely simple, main block of the action just lifts off. The connecting rod is retained by a free-floating pin. Replace rod, slip the action back together. About a minutes work even for someone as clumsy as myself. ciaran
I couldn't see it being too hard myself, as I have stripped it right down before, and have had a good nosey around it just to get familiar with it.
