dr_nick
I just bought a new gun, not the s400 that I thought I wanted but the TX200 HC in .22. Great deal and great looking gun. I would be really pleased, well I would if I could shoot the damn thing. I can cock it to the first click of the anti bear trap engageing but no further. No matter what I try it wont budge and so will not cock. If you disengage the anti bear trap then the cocking leaver flies back to the start (no I didn't let it snap back, remember I have the TX200 in .177). It's going back tommorrow but I would like to know if anyone knows what might have caused this? Its a new rifle, but it has been on display. Is it possible its been dry fired? Or worse someone let the cocking bar fly up to hit the barrel? I am pretty sure I am going to reject the gun and get a replacement. Its got to be bad for a gun of that quality to be broke on reciept. MFW
I had exactly the same problem with my TX200HC when I bought it from new. It almost seemed as though something kept getting jammed, but as I was new to the TX I assumed it was me that was inexperienced in cocking it. Anyhow, after a few minutes of trying all sorts of combinations of pressing the anti-bear trap and trigger (whilst keeping hold of the cocking lever of course!) it eventually freed up, and has been fine ever since. To this day I've no idea what caused it - it's never happened again.
dr_nick
Update. Phoned Air Arms who confirmed that the rifle is broke, no obvious work around. I tried all the wiggling and such like. I phoned the gun shop up (its a fair way away 30+ miles) and said what the problem was. Said they would send it away to get fixed, I said I wanted it exchanged, they said they only have the walnut stock in stock (sic). So its a trip down there tomorrow morning, a copy of the consumer protection act in hand and chance at some heavy bargaining to either get the Walnut stock TX200HC or the s400 at a discount / freebies for my trouble. dr_nick
Got £12.99 and a box of AA field (£8.99 worth) and it all set up again. Seems pretty fair to me. New gun shoots well, though takes some getting used to. Jumps around more than the .177 tx200, stronger spring in the HC version? Lots of fun, very happy now. dr_nick
Happiness now back to zero. Went to the range, at 25 yrds it was shooting down and to the right by an inch. Adjusted the elevation ok then went to bring it over to the left. one click and no more adjustment left. Checked and yes it was set as far left as it could go. Thought it might be that the mounts were out, so I reseated the mounts and pulled the adjustment back to center. I had to go forward to 6 yrds to hit a full competition target!. Readjusted to full left and got the following. (bearing in mind I didn't wind the adjustment beyound where it got tight, approx 2 1/2 full turns of the turret). 9 meters 5 inches to the right of aim. 14 meters 7 inches to the right of aim. 20 meters 9 inches to the right of aim. Methinks the scope is fuxored seeing as the carbine barrel should be impossible to bend. Ideas why the scope should be so bad? Its a AGS 3 - 9 x 40 mill dot. (all groupings were almost single hole, from standing or prone, witht yhe gun held not resting on anything)
dr_nick
Ok I took the gun back and swaped the scope. I went out to the range, placed targets at 15 25 35 yrds. Took a few shots at the 15 which were low but the windage was just right. I adjusted. and adjusted Tried the 25. and adjusted and adjusted, The ran out of adjustment with still a good 2 inches below where I am aiming. Oh and the trigger is off, way off. On the tx200 1.77 you pull to the end of the first stage when you hit the second you stop and the slightest additional pressure shoots the gun. The new gun goes to the second stage the creeps, and creeps and then creeps some more before randomly going off. To say I am a little unhappy would be to miss a perfect opertunity to use very strong expletives. I'm going to eiher get my money back or go for an s400. Me = v unhappy.
