roebuck243
Does anyone know a good gunsmith for Rem 1100 an expert if poss. I've one I use most days for pigeons it's one ive had silenced and great when it doesn't let me down. The feed latch keeps giving me problems I think they fasten them in in a way ,but it keeps blocking.I'm not sure if it is this or not but could do with someone to look at it . Ive stripped it more times than enough.live Yorkshire area. Or if someone has a spare stock or very cheap complete 1100 .Thanks

BlaserF3
The feed latch is staked in place, something very similar to being peened. The last 11-87 that I had it was always coming loose, flipping nuisance. The general opinion on here http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=264627 is to superglue it in place. Andy H
Does it fire and eject ok but then every now and again when feeding a live round it does not lift the live round up and the bolt cycle forwards to push it into the chamber. roebuck243
Hi there yes ive read that one before tryed the old glue trick but i think the oil or solvent cleaner messers with it and it came out.Its also very sharp had a bad cut one day from something in there. Its a tool to be honest and if it wasnt for the gun been silenced i would have got rid but it does knock pigeons down pretty good and sounds a touch quieter. Every now and then the cartridge woulnt feed but i can put up with this. Its the bolt sometimes doesnt have any force to spring back and when you strip it and mess with the piece of strip metal jumps out and does my head in!!!!When i eventually put it back together ,blood and all it seems ok for a while till next time. It does need re staking i suppose and looked at to be honest. All the parts i see are obtainable if i needed any from the states websites and not too badly priced . BlaserF3
I learnt many years ago, never to feel inside the receiver of an 1100/87. The guide rails wear to a razors edge :o A new recoil spring would be a good idea by the sound of it. An even better idea would be to buy something that's not as tired. roebuck243
As i said if it wasnt silenced i would, but there isnt many models you can have silenced. It gets thrown in and out of truck and hides and all sorts so it does get battered a bit .
