smirff
Hi thanks for all the welcomes to pigeon watch, this is my first question of many ... I live in Northern Ireland and have recently applied for a shotgun certificate, hand delivered last week hopefully to speed things up , my question is this can i own an air rifle on the same certificate/licence or do i have to apply for another type of licence/certificate for the air rifle, i have permission on a 75 acre farm the owner of which has asked me would i also help with a pigeon problem in one of his barns, but for this i would need the use of an air rifle thanks in advance. Dr_evil
no cert needed for an air rifle if under 12ft/lbs If above you need an FAC
smirff
Thanks for the quick reply thats great ... thought the law over here was slightly different thanks
tweedledee
any air rifle over here needs a fac. you can have an air rifle on the same land but get it passed when they come to inspect it. air rifles are the cheapest form of shooting after the initial outlay. i have 4 and they are the most used tools in my cabinet. Teal
There is no such thing a shotgun certificate in Northern Ireland. All guns (including shotguns and air rifles sub 12ft/lbs) are held on a firearms certificate. You can make an application for one once you have been issued your firearms licence, as tweedledee says they can be incredibly useful, and since it will be on a FAC anyway, you might as well go for one with a bit more power which can make them very versatile.
