Is Vectan D20 SE an alternative to A1

Recommended Posts

Peter Lawman has suggested I might be able to use Vectan D20 SE as an alternative to A1 (which he can't get at the moment). Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on this? I can't find a huge amount of info or recipes for it but my basic loads are planned to be :-

- 20 bore subsonic, 65mm PT case, fibre wad, 24gm No 5 or 6 lead, CX2000 primers (already got them)

- 20 bore , 65mm PT case, fibre wad, 28gm No 5 or 6 lead, CX2000 primers

- 12 bore, 65mm PT case, B&P Z21 plastic wad, 28/30gm No 5 or 6 lead, CX2000 primers

- 12 bore, 70mm PT case, B&P Z24 plastic wad, 28/30gm No 8 or 9 lead, CX2000 primers

I was going to use Vectan A1 as I've seen a few good recipes on here for it but if I can't get hold of it for a while an equivalent would do. Just don't want to spend a stupid amount on American powders when Nobel will do the same job at half the price.

Not loaded any yet and I'm not too worried about massive velocity so it doesn't have to be a scorcher either.
