al4x
the simple fact is lots of imports were done at one time of dogs that were either pit bulls or crosses and they were labelled Irish Staffies, the characteristics being the long legs and stature which is very similar to a pit bull funnily enough. Hence they got put on the banned dog list, I've met a few people now who described their dogs as Irish staffies and you could tell they knew full well there was pit in them. Hence the issue over them and why its now not such a good thing to describe your dog as. Yes there may be unrelated ones but there are also lots about where it is a get out clause by people trying to avoid the law.

vulpicide
The post suggests that you can't seem to train purpose bred gundogs (lab/springer) to be efficient in the field then I would reckon that unless this "staffie" is a dog prodigy you have no chance.
