fenboy
Had a go for the first time today with the hypaflaps on I have just purchased on my rotory, they were working fine for a start but as the wind got up the wings just seemed to wrap around themselves despite having the thicker carbon arms in ,is this normally a issue in strong winds or have I set them up incorrectly ?? deny essex
They can wrap over when the wind is strong and moveing faster than the rotary, speeding the rotary up can cure it but if the wind is that fast and strong hypaflaps can have difficulty working. Sometimes shortening the line that connects wing to body can help a little. If that fails change to real birds when the wind is fast and heavy. fenboy
thanks ,did not think it was me as they were working well until the wind picked up,think I may shorten the line as it does not look very strong so will replace it with something a little thicker at the same time. fielddweller
Leave them as they are, they work fine for still/breezy days just no good on windy days.I have tried all sorts of alterations but they dont work on windy days. atb Fielddweller
mag357
I agree with Fielddweller, if its too windy Hypoflaps are useless. I use a couple of floaters that me and Hawkeye make and leave the rotary at home and they work a treat in any wind even up to gale force. utectok
They work as flappers on poles in the wind
