Dr_evil
You pay for what you get……..at that price I'd expect it to break or wear out very quickly
mark@mbb
I have beast of a winch on the front of my L200 Mark
bedwards1966
Yes, though I'm not sure if it's strong enough, if you got very deeply bogged down it may not have enough pull, it would probably do most things though, especially with the rope doubled back
swiss.tony
i was going to do the exact same but its nearly 300 quid more on your insurance and if you dont tell them your not insured mate they evan charge for winch bumper as well

Dr_evil
Something like a Warn as they can be rebuilt easily and work very well
WelshLamb
Ive got a 10,000lb champion winch. Its never cleaned/maintained, is contantly covered in **** and water. Cost me £150 off ebay with a seized bearing. £6 for a new bearing to get it working and it has never ever let me down Mate of mine is onto his 3rd Warn, no idea what he does to them! ferguson_tom
i bought something very similar to this for going on my trailer, it is okay but not sure about the weight rating. I pulled a little ferguson tractor onto my trailer bout 1100kg with flat tyres. I doubled the rope up and must admit it pulled it but the electrical connectors melted their plastic holders inside so they wiggle and the burning smell was not too good. Still works though. I think be a complete waste of money on any car that is up to axles in mud. Edited January 29, 2012 by ferguson_tom
JR1960
i was going to do the exact same but its nearly 300 quid more on your insurance and if you dont tell them your not insured mate they evan charge for winch bumper as well You must be with the wrong insurers. I've been modifying zuks for 20 years. my latest project is an 04 jimny 3" suspension lift 33" tyres, winch bumper etc etc. costs me £126/year fully comp as a 3rd car. Try a specialist 4x4 insurer who does modded trucks.
JR1960
In answer to original question, Warn are good but pricey, Goodwinch have some nice mods but can be pricey too. If I was you i'd try and get a secondhand X9, easy to strip and maintain and plenty of power for a Jimny.
mark@mbb
The one on the front of my L200 is mounted on a big steel winch bumper i bought it off a tree surgeon who used it to pull tree stumps out they changed there vehicle so i bought the lot i pulled a 7.5 ton horse box out that was up to its axles and the winch bumper is an aussie one i think but covers the whole front of the car including the lights
