D_No
Having had a read through the "stock finishing" threads, I've decided to strip the varnish off my lanber and refinish it with oil. Can anyone provided me with a shopping list of everything I will need, I'm assuming I will need tools/stripper/sandpaper/oils can anyone recommend the "good brands" and what tools I will need? Many thanks, Deano

Chazzmeister
That's perfect John AND cheap, anyone took the stock off a lanber sporter and know what tools I will need? D It's a pretty straightforward process - the action is held on by a long bolt that runs from behind the recoil pad. For what your gunsmith should charge I'd ask them to take the metalwork off the wood (fore end release mechanism too) - most will do it as a favour if you're a regular customer and they'll be able to make sure nothing gets damaged in the process. Refinishing a stock is one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do, DIY wise, as it's not complicated but yields great results - normally it makes your gun a lot more desirable when (or if) you decide to move it on too... Good luck and HAVE PATIENCE
