BRAD1927
I have recently purchased a new silver pigeon 1 deluxe and as its my first new gun I want to keep it nice and shiney. Before all the critics tell me about shine and how it will frighten the birds thats not the issue. Can anyone tell me and recommend any products to ensure it stays waterproof and in pristine condition. Last but not least as its a new gun does anyone know if the finish is varnished or oiled ? Shropshire_Lad
Hi Brad, there have been lots of posts about the finish on the new Beretta sp1's. A lot saying the finish has been prone to showing water marks or spots. I have had good results with Rapid Oil, just a little now and again will keep the water out on an oil finished stock, lots of options out there though. The grain on your shotgun is great and I quite liked the matt finish, all oil finishes can be cut back to matt with very fine wire wool or wet and dry or left as a high sheen should you wish. My sp111 has a glossy finish as it came from the factory, not my choice but it came at the right price. Its an older gun and a few had this shiny finish then. atvb Paul. Cheers Paul just ordered some beretta stock oil only a couple of quid so will give it a bash and see what happens. As the gun is new I really don't have the bottle to attack it with wire wool or sand paper
