Matt Gould
hello whent to my permission today not to shoot but to have a look at the pigeon situation, there was no pigeons about at all appart from a small area what had no gas guns on it. this may not be a bad thing becasuse it will be easyer to shoot them on this area but do any of you think pigeon will go back on the marked areas with gas guns on ? mfletch
Yes Ive seen pigeons close to a gas gun and when it goes off they just take to the air about 10 feet then land again They must get used to it, But you show up with a gun and there gone. deny essex
As mfletch said , ive seen the same , gas bangers have to be moved regularily to keep up maximum effect. If theres a gas banger on where you wish to shoot ask the farmer if you can turn it off, just turn the gas off and turn it back on when your finished. shootnfish
dont take them long to get used to them, last winter i was shooting some rape that had a couple of gas guns on it the pigeons were so used to the bang that when some came into the decoys if i only had one shot and they didnt see me the same bunch would sometimes circle round and try and come back in again. they would clear off if i had two shots in quick sucsession though. Same, don't even bother turning them off now, pigeons are almost oblivious.
