Good quality chains are not that expensive in usual home owner sizes ie upto 18 or 20". For at the saving your making (unless your hiring or lending them out) id always opt for the best quality chain. Carlton pro chains stihl or even the cheaper Oregon chains are all good quality for a couple of quid more. Last thing you want is a chain snapping at high throttle.

When it comes to chainsaw chains, don't urinate about, buy the best. :good: :good:

:good: The oregon chains for my stihl blunt far quicker than the stihl ones and even when straight out the box don't cut as quick. I'm forever tightening them up as well. The stihl ones are only a few quid more so I get them now.

Steve,

It seems fine although I haven't used it back to back with the Oregon one yet, to be honest the little 240e husky was running out of puff on the 12" around limbs before the chain was stopping cutting which tells me it was digging in well enough. :good:

Regards,

Gixer

When I decided to treat myself to a new saw a couple of years ago, I asked the woodsman on the estate for his opinion.

He said, buy a Husky and use Stihl chains. He uses his all day every day so that was good enough for me.
