Toombsy
Spotted a magpie collecting nesting material today... 13th Feb! This is definitely the earliest I have ever seen a bird start planning to breed. Or maybe he was trying to pull a bird for Valentine's Day? Anyone else spotted any activity like this so early in the year?
Dekers
My Grey Squirrels have been at it since Christmas! It has been very mild (except recently) and I suspect we are going to have a bumper breeding season all round!
Toombsy
I hope you're right mate. The fluffy and feathery fellows could do with a break after last year's extreme winter

ack-ack
The doves have been seen in the vicinity of their impossibly flimsy nest that is on the end of one of the springiest branches on the most exposed part of the tree facing the prevailing winds. I sat in the lounge watching the pair of divvy gets going up and down like fiddlers elbow through some fierce wind last season. They still managed to raise two broods. davie mac
Last year a pair of magpies started to build their nest in some trees out our back on the 1st of January, thats when we started to see them flying in with twigs and breaking twigs of the trees and they started to build,it took them a good 6 weeks to finish, this year they started to fix the nest up about the second week of January, and their still going in with twigs a few times a day, also yesterday i noticed some sparrows out the back collecting fluff and other stuff in their beaks and flying off with it, i presume they have have started to build nests as well.
