chrisd76
Hi, Just added a semi-auto to my collection. I have been after a SBE2 for a while and took the plunge and bought one today. Reading through the manual it states only to use the proper Benelli cleaning kit etc. The gun came with the correct oil, but does anyone know if a regular bore cleaner is ok to use on these. I currently use the Bisley 12 gauge kit. thanks in advance.

Mark-70
Yep, use Phillips Gun Barrel Cleaner on my M2 with no problems. Does anyone know if the original oil that comes with a new Benelli is the same as say Napier gun oil? I never opened my Benelli oil and use a different brand, just wondered if it was thicker / thinner etc.
chrisd76
Whats the best stuff to use. Looking through a few videos of Benelli's being stripped and cleaned, and it would appear to be easier to use a spray / aerosol cleaner, especially for cleaning the trigger assembly etc. A lot of the american videos on Youtube as well, they seem to use spray oil as well. The Bisley kit I have doesnt seem very well geared towards cleaning the Benelli.
Iggy
I have a Benelli SuperSport and its a doddle to clean. Obviously remove the barrel, add a generous squirt of Napier Gun Cleaner down the bore followed by a good scrubbing with a standard phosphor bronze brush. Push a few balls of kitchen roll through afterwards and the bore should be sparkling like new. I also remove the trigger group and give it a wipe down as well as dismantling and cleaning out the bolt assembly. These seem a bit daunting at first but the Benelli's really are quite simple when you take them apart and cleaning them seems to get quicker each time you do it. I wouldnt worry too much about using Benelli branded cleaning products, Im sure they're all very similar. Good luck.

Will i need any further lube/oil after using this,or is it really as good as it says?? Ive read a few things on tinternet saying its no good when your using plastic wad cartridges. Probably just a case of using the Bisley stuff first. Edited February 17, 2012 by chrisd76
Iggy
I believe Napier do 2 sorts of aerosols, Gun Cleaner and and Gun Lubricant. I personally use the Gun Cleaner only and once I feel the gun's clean I leave it at that. I jjust use the Gun Cleaner to clean the parts as required as when its been wiped off it leaves a protective film behind. Having said all this, I tend to never get my guns wet and if I did I may be inclined to put a thin film of oil on them afterwards as well. Napier cleaning and lubricating products seem to be quite well regarded generally and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed with them.
