CharlieT
Hello is the 204 a barrel burning round?? or will the barrels last 1000's of rounds?? rich. All reports from the USA, where very many rounds are fired at such things as prairie dogs and the like, the barrel life is many thousands of rounds. Hi Rich, 204's are not normally barrel burners, like the .17 rem or .22-250. Reggiegun
coyotemaster
Hello is the 204 a barrel burning round?? or will the barrels last 1000's of rounds?? rich. Rich, The short answer is it depends-----it depends on if you spend hours at the bench running rounds through it or if you sight it in and hunt with it. It is hard to honestly wear out the barrel(throat erosion properly named) in a hunting situation. Even if the barrel life were only 3000 rounds how many years would that take at say 200/year. If you don't shoot them hot they will all last a long time. I shoot fast cartridges(.17 Predator/Remington,220 Swift) all three having barrel burning reps. I sight them in and hunt and don't worry about it till I start to miss long shots then I might recheck at the range--- but usually it is just me!! I would however buy new if I were buying a fast cartridge! Edited February 21, 2012 by coyotemaster
