2" Case 12 Bore Cartridges

Recommended Posts

Do Eley still do them, always used to?

Pity about your location as I have several hundred I would imagine. My late father used to load them (proper 2", not 2+"). David Garrard (Homeloader) rated them very highly). I don't have time to load shotgun as well so sold the Hellis, Linsley and Patstone and now am using the cartridges for short range right hand barrel and as cripple stoppers for the black ones in the 21/2". Shame really.

Now, that is a lovely memento of an utterly charming gentleman who contributed so much to the home loader's pool of knowledge. For the youngsters, David wrote regularly for the Shooting Times in the days when it could be described as a text book in weekly installments.

Just out of interest; in 1994, I had to hand-load a special lot of 250 12 gauge, 2", 15/16 oz No 4's for a guy and his Purdey in India. When they reached the Customs, the Indian lady in charge would not sign a release document for them because she was 'against all forms of shooting'. As far as I know, they are still there!
