johnny
At what age should I introduce my puppy's to food, and what should I give them? Cheers john
ferguson_tom
Dont know about young pups but when we got our springer at 8 weeks i have used Burns puppy small bite and she is doing very well on it. The breeder we got her from gave us pedigree dry food which i literally chucked in the bin the same day. arwen3513
do you mean to wean them from their mum? often done approx 3 weeks of age, and there is a suggested way to get them to lap/feed. once they are able to cooked mince can be used for a couple of meals and a milky type meal for the other two, allowing the bitch to return to the pups after feeding so they can suckle if they want to. i suggest you get hold of a book on the subject that you can refer to regularly at each stage of development goffy

washerboy
with out this sounding funny...but here goes you didnt breed a litter and dont know how to wean them? if its a pup youve bought it should be with its litter mates until 7 wks, and the breeder if there any good should tell you what to feed it
johnny
No it's my first litter of pups they are nearly four weeks old. Last couple of days I've started to give them some puppy food mixed with some milk they seem to like that, going to build it up slowly. washerboy
mince is as good as anything, as is small amounts of scrambled egg.dont over do the milk or they will **** through the eye of a needle. the bitch will still feed them as well. do you know how to stop her producing milk? what breed are they, i love having a litter of pups about.if it wasnt the pain of rehoming them i would have bred more, but i only ever bred to keep one back
johnny
They are essxlab they wernt planned hence the questions. I thought as they are getting food she would slowly stop feeding them herself when she was ready. Cheers John
