raby88
Hi My local gunshop has offered me a daystate mk4 with thumbhole stock for £500. However it has no paperwork, manual or cd with it. He also says he wont offer guarantee with it. Sounds like a bargain but are they expensive if anything was to go wrong with it? Would be grateful of any advice Thanks

Uncle Albert
I have got a Mk4 IST. Brilliant rifle. The cost new is something like £1200 so the price seems very low for what is a very good rifle. If it's legit then he won't have trouble selling it. If the seller is an RFD then it sounds even more dubious. If you can get the serial number then you can contact Daystate and get the age of the gun and if it has been serviced. Check that it has been sub 12ft/lbs all its life (assuming that's what you want). Once an air rifle has been "On ticket", I don't think it can come off. Why no guarantee? They are reliable rifles, (for that price they damn well want to be)so why reluctant to give any sort of guarantee? bruno22rf
Your dealer CANNOT sell you any gun without a basic warranty-to do so is in breach of your consumer rights-he would be liable to a hefty fine.If you are worried about this aspect of the deal then do not pay cash unless you get a proper receipt-this will act as your proof of purchase of this gun from this trader.Give trading standards a ring if you are unsure.
