Hi,

There seems to be so many CRee torches about and quite frankly i'm a bit lost, i guess for general and hunting use you want something that will focus the beam ?

any suggestions on what people have and use?

Cheers :)

Ps its fairly short range.... shotgun ranges

i use a couple i've got a cheap 200lumen red led one off the bay good for 50-80 yrds and a green led 300lumen ultrafire also off the bay for £16 thats good for about 200yrds, i can have either of them scope mounted with a pressure switch or use with a shotgun with the standard tail cap to good effect. neither of mine are focusable, i made a sunshade out of the rubber grip off a hammer, removed it from the hammer then cut about 11/2-2" piece then turned it inside out so the textured grip was inside to help stop it bouncing the beam as much.

A coloured LED is always going to be better than a filter over a lense as it wont cut the output down so much but with it being permantly one colour its not so versatile !

Also different filters for different uses ! :good:

Killight do some good ones from the US.

There are pro`s and cons with focusing the beam..... Done to much it makes scanning/sweeping harder but the pro is when your on it your not upsetting so much around if theres a few bunnys out !

Horses for courses !

I've just ordered a LED Lenser P14 after getting good feedback and reading good reviews.

It takes AA batteries (x4), so much more economical than those CR123/18650 batteries. Have a look on youtube - There are a few vids on there showing comparisons etc.

I'll be using it with a shotgun, too, (probably a 410) so it'll be interesting trying it out.

Just cos it went further and less common then white or red, thought it help, I don't instend on shooting that far personally although my shooting buddy does have said hmr lol

Just help me see them from further off ;)

I agree about versatile and I think white LEDs will be pretty poor with filters as they don't have te same light spectrum as bulbs??

Two touches seems the best route I guess?

Thanks for the input guys all helpful :)

In my experience a 200 yard beam scarpers the rabbits ages before you get within range.

I would say 80 yards is plenty at night.

Try the 80 yard lamp and if you feel you desperately need to be blinding yourself and any other rabbits within a 2 mile radius buy the other at a later date.

:good:
