Turbo charged flapper

Recommended Posts

Yes, mine came on monday. Not had chance to try it other than to make sure all works. Looked at them at Newark show but was too tight to part with my money then regretted it when home. Seems well made but don,t expext Rolls Royce paint work, any primary school class could match it

I got one at the midland from the two Andy's at AA Decoys, have used it many times and it is a great bit of kit. I have made two modifications to it, firstly where the wires attach to the motor is very exposed and if you knock one of the wires off there is no way to re attach it so i fitted a protective cap over the end, secondly i did away with the timer and run a cable out from the hide with a button so i can flap it at the right time,(just enough to get a birds attention)

The turbo flapper is a big improvement on the standard flappers because it mimics a bird just landing, three flaps is enough to get a passing birds attention, it will then see your pattern, i then give one more flap for re assurance as it turns in and then get ready to shoot it. BINGO.

Best investment you will make. Have fun.

PS. Dont forget to break both wings close to the body before putting it on.

did something similar to richg, i put a couple of cable ties around the motor to trap the wires securely.

apart from that cant fault it :good:

working on an adaptor to one of my hide poles so i can mount it in the top of a hedge.

next thing is to find a floater pole to take the weight of it with a bird mounted, should give extra movement

i was wondering on the floater poles ?? the weight would be an issue, i like your idea of a hide pole for it to sit in the hedge :good:

my hide poles are actually fishing bank sticks lee...very long ones that extend to over 8 foot

so all i need is a 3/8 bsw thread and a bit of rod to fit in the bottom of the flapper and we are sorted..i hope.

got the idea from watching some local pigeons landing on a hedge next to a cover strip, as soon as one

landed on the top of the hedge they came from miles around to join it.

i see mine are just washing line poles i might see if i can adapt something for it to fit onto one of them, i usually put a few full bodied decoys in the hedge if they are coming from behind works for me most times :good:

Good tip about protecting the wire conections :good: Covered mine in insulation tape then a wine bottle top was just the right size to slip over the end and tape all round and over.
