My question is what will the hold under be at say 20-25 yards and hold over be like at 75-80 yards? Always been close enough for me and quite nice to have a fiddle about with different zeros etc especially if you are talking centrefire rounds at £1+! Fishermanpaddy Posted March 24, 2012 Report Share Posted March 24, 2012 Subsonics I use a mil dot scope zeroed at about 70 yds with subs and its quite handy for hold over/under. Obviously you will need more of a hold over at longer range when using subs but Ackley is spot on just set your targets up and get familiar with your setup. Rimfireboy Posted March 24, 2012 Report Share Posted March 24, 2012 Set up with subs at fifty yards and you can say,for rabbits aim dead on from ten to sixty in real terms. Then two inches holdover at seventy yards. That's what I do if I'm not expecting to be shooting much above sixty yards. You will have to check with your own gun and ammo but you won't find it much different from this with most subsonics. Obviously you need to find ammo that suits your gun. Don't take it as absolute, however it will get you pretty close and give you a good idea what to expect - well worth printing it off, then trying it yourself to confirm it to be accurate. Sharpshooter.123 Posted March 25, 2012 Author Report Share Posted March 25, 2012 I went and zeroed at 55 yards and it was basically point and shoot down to 25 yards and was getting fist size groupings out to 90+ yards with a little holdover which I didn't think was bad for a first time zeroing a rifle.
