fishbone
Not sure if this is in the right section but wondering if you FAC holders can help. Im looking into aquiring an FAC. With respect to putting permisions on my ticket could someone enlighten me as to whats involved. Do I have to explain to the farmer to expect a visit from Mr Plod or not. Some people get funny about things like this, not that he's hiding anything. I dont want to scare of my new permisions with lots of formality. To non-shooters like some of the farmers I visit I dont want to imply that im looking to test nuclear weapons on his beloved land!...But an .22 or .17HMR would be seriously helpfull and perfectly safe used responsibly. The land is quite rural - no houses or main roads close by. Any suggestions too on how to explain to the farmer my intentions and get his approval without putting the wind up him!!.... I know exactly what you mean about the perceived hassle of having the police look around the land. I would let the land owner know, and explain its just a formality carried out, i would also offer to meet the police and drive them around (so its your vehicle on the land) . david_r
When I applied for mine, some of the land was already cleared, but they still contacted each and everyone of the land owners I listed. I guess to check I did actually have permission.
bedwards1966
As said, ask the police first as the land may have been passed already for the calibres you're after. Assuming the land is not all cleared then it is just a matter of the police turning up/being showed round the land to satisfy them that it's not unsafe to shoot on. I don't think they'd even need to speak the farmer. Obviously if you put in for a FAC then you need the farmer to sign a written permission slip to go in with the application to prove to the police you have land to shoot on, but that's not a big deal. By telling the farmer that you'll be able to control pests from 150 yards away easily instead of stalking to within 40 yards for an air gun should help persuade him that it's a good idea. Sharpshooter.123
That's what I told my farmers, I said I need to get within 30-35 yards with a shotgun but could take them with a rifle at 60-90 yards and the foxes I could take at 100-200 yards and I got b l oody hell, go along with it whatever it takes response
